One Simple Wish ("OSW") is proud to announce the launch of Lissie's Art Spark - a new initiative offering free art classes at Artworks to 25 kids who qualify for free lunch from P.J. Hill Elementary School as well as 4 kids who are being nominated by OSW partner agencies.

Lissie's Art Spark is the result of a collaborative effort between One Simple Wish, Boys & Girls Club of Trenton and ArtWorks. Utilizing resources from all three agencies, the classes will provide arts education in an area that has been hit hard by budget cuts in the school system.

One Simple Wish is funding the classes through various sources, the main one being Lissie's Wish a memorial fund set up in honor of Aliscia "Lissie" Ball, who passed away in a tragic accident at the age of 20. Lissie was an enthusiast artist and her mother, Melinda Gallo, started the fund to honor her daughter's memory. The fund is used to provide kids in need with the opportunity to experience the art Lissie loved so much.

"One Simple Wish and the Gallo's are local heroes. Recent cuts to the arts in Trenton schools have been drastic and that makes this gift even more special and important. Art is a great way for children to express themselves - to express a wide range of emotions from rage to happiness. Lissie, who was compelled to create art everyday, would have wanted to take or teach the classes we'll be offering these kids." says Jaime Parker, Artworks President.

The children attending the art classes will be transported from the Boys & Girls Club in Trenton and are being selected based on recommendations from the Boys and Girls Club staff. Recommendations are written on behalf of children who exhibit a special interest or talent in the arts. The classes will run from March to May.

"Providing opportunities for our members to pursue their interests and talents is an important part of the Boys & Girls Club's youth development strategy. Through our partnership with ArtWorks it will provide our members with an invaluable venue to facilitate their growth and development in the world of art. We can not thank One Simple Wish enough for making this partnership happen through their financial support of the partnership," says Dave Anderson, Executive Director of Boys & Girls Club Trenton.
