ART ALL NIGHT-TRENTON AIMS TO BREAK LAST YEAR’S ART SUBMISSION RECORD
Trenton, NJ – May 25, 2012 –With just three weeks left until the region’s largest art and music festival, Art All Night-Trenton organizers are calling for art submissions in hopes of breaking last year’s record of more than 900 pieces. Artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to submit one piece of art – in any medium or format – to showcase during the 24-hour event, which starts 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 16 and ends 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 17.

As always, there is no fee to submit art. Ready-to-hang pieces can be brought to the Roebling Wire Works building at 675 South Broad Street on Friday, June 15 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. or Saturday, June 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Millyard Park entrance (closest to main entrance of the Roebling Market). Art intake closes promptly at 1 p.m. on Saturday to ensure all art is hung when the doors open at 3 p.m.

In an effort to draw more student art this year, Mercer County high school students (grades 9-12) who submit an original piece of artwork will be eligible to win prize money through The Artworks Awards for Excellence, sponsored by The Rose and Louis H. Linowitz Charitable Foundation, Inc. A total of $3,500 in prizes will be awarded in the categories of painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture/mixed media. To be eligible, students must indicate on the art submission form that they are entering their piece for The Artworks Awards for Excellence and confirm that their work is original.

According to Artwork’s Executive Director, Lynn Lemyre, “Artists of every age showcase their work at Art All Night but, for young artists in particular, the opportunity to have their work seen by more than 15,000 people can be incredibly inspiring. We’re thrilled that The Rose and Louis H. Linowitz Charitable Foundation, Inc. offered to sponsor this exciting contest for Mercer County’s high school students and we hope parents and teachers encourage aspiring artists to participate.” Artworks Vice-President and Art All Night Co-Chair, Anthony Coluccio, adds, “Whether you’re a refrigerator Picasso or a professional artist, this is an amazing chance to show your work in a truly unique setting, surrounded by performance art, film and music. We need all art on deck this year to beat last year’s 900-plus pieces.”
